MICHEL NADEAU is a music educator, author and clinician. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from the Eastman School of Music and a Master’s degree in Music Education from the Aaron Copland School of Music. In addition, he has earned 60 post graduate credits in computer music technology. 

Michel has been teaching band in the Commack Public Schools in Commack, New York, since 1988.  He directs the 4th and 5th grade concert bands, the jazz ensemble, and marching band at Burr Intermediate School.  In 2006, his 5th grade band was one of only five bands in New York State to score “Gold with Distinction” for level I at the NYSSMA Major Organization Festival while rehearsing only once per week.  

Mr. Nadeau is a guest clinician for the New York State Council of Administrators in Music Education-Suffolk Chapter.  In 2009 his presentation was on the topic of “Rehearsal Activities to Enhance Your Ensemble” and in 2008 on the topic of "Tone and Intonation for Wind Instruments."

Mr. Nadeau studied trombone with George Osborn and euphonium with Cherry Beauregard and Fred Heath. His performing credits include performing with the Eastman Wind Ensemble on the “Quiet City” compact disc.  He has also performed with the Eastman Trombone Choir, the Eastman Jazz Lab Band, and marched in the Macy’s and Tournament of Roses parades with the 1983 McDonald’s All-American High School Band. 

Mr. Nadeau studied conducting with Donald Hunsberger, David Effron and Lawrence Eisman.  His conducting credits include conducting many musicals including “42nd Street”, “Hello, Dolly!”, “Sweet Charity”, and “Godspell” with the Commack Masque and Wig Company.  He also conducted “West Side Story” and the world premiere of “A Touch of Kindness” for the Take One Theatre Arts Company in St. James, New York.  Michel has also guest conducted both the 2009 Suffolk County Music Educators' Association Division III All-County Band and the 2006 Nassau Music Educators’ Association Division I All-County Band.

Mr. Nadeau has composed and arranged many songs that have been performed throughout New York.  With over 20 years of field-tested materials, Mr. Nadeau authored and self-published the newly released Band Brilliance Complete Band Method Book 1. He is currently in the final production stages of Book 2 in this series.
